Plantarfaciitis

One of the most common causes of foot pain.  Characterised by a sharp pain in the centre of the heel on the underside or sole of the foot which may also spread into the arch area.  Pain is often worse in the morning with the first few steps of the day, or after sitting for a while.

There has been much debate over the cause of Plantafaciitis, and its exact cause is still poorly understood.  However  the current research suggests that it does not involve any inflammation, and thus is incorrectly named as "itis" relates to an inflammatory process.

There are other conditions than can mimic Plantarfaciitiis so it is important to see a foot specialist to rule out other conditions that can cause heel pain such as Nerve Entrapment Syndromes , Fatty Pad Atrophy, Stress Fracture, Plantarfacia Rupture and Lumbar disc involvement.
